This groundbreaking album fuses the rich musical traditions of Afro-Peruvian rhythms and jazz harmonies, resulting in a sound that is both traditional and contemporary. “Tradiciones” has received critical acclaim, earning the 2 prestigious Latin Grammy nominations for Best Latin Jazz Album and “La Flor de la Canela” for Best Arrangement, the later which won the award. This album also received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album. The album features original compositions and arrangements by the orchestra’s founders and artistic directors, Lorenzo Ferrero and Anibal Seminario. The Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra brings together a diverse group of musicians from both Peru and the United States, each bringing their unique musical perspectives to the ensemble.
